Melissa Lebrun, HR & Operations Manager
Melissa began her career at Falmouth Veterinary Hospital in October of 2014 and worked her way from CSR to HR & Operations Manager. She came to Falmouth Veterinary Hospital with 6 years of management experience in the veterinary field in both small animal general practice and emergency medicine. She is a proud member of the VHMA and is currently in the process of being certified as a HR professional. Her favorite part of working at FVH is being part of a progressive team that strives to provide the best quality care to patients and clients by focusing on education and preventative care. As the HR & Operations Manager and with the help of her excellent leadership team, she challenges herself to continually seek out growth opportunities for the FVH team to ensure excellence in the care that you and your pet receive.
Melissa currently resides on the coast of Maine with her husband; two growing boys and Ray the most lovable cat this side of the Mississippi. When she is not working you can find her engaged in her other passion teaching and creating art with people of all ages and abilities.
Laura Rust, Client Service Manager Laura joined the FVH team in February of 2014. She was new to the veterinary field but brought along a great deal of customer service experience from a variety of backgrounds including real estate and retail management. While bringing a fresh outlook on customer service to the table and learning the position at FVH in a swift manner, Laura proved to be a great addition and was soon promoted to Lead CSR as of December 2014. When not at work, you will find Laura spending time with her Shetland Sheepdog, Libby, and her mischievous kitty, Camomile. She also enjoys the outdoors and can be found hiking, boating or on more low-key days, doing yoga, refinishing furniture or visiting her horse named Trouble who really is no trouble at all.
“My favorite part of being a CSR is building relationships with our clients and their pets. I love to help in any way I can and feel great when I can assist in making their visit to our office more enjoyable.”
Chelsea was born in Western New York State, studied in San Francisco, and then returned to New York State before moving to Maine in June of 2015. While in NY, she worked at a busy veterinary emergency clinic for more than 5 years.
Shortly after arriving in Maine, she joined the FVH team. Chelsea has two dogs: Kalla, a Chocolate Lab and Mya, a Black Lab/Anatolian Shepherd mix. She rescued Mya after a car hit the dog and her owners were unable to care for her. She adopted Kalla at 6 weeks old as she was born with a deformed front leg and needed lots of medical care.
In her free time, Chelsea enjoys taking “the girls” swimming or to the dog park, pet sitting, and exploring all that Portland (& Maine in general) has to offer!
“When I was looking at employment options in the Portland area, I knew I wanted to work at a busy, progressive, AAHA-accredited, general practice. I had my first day at Falmouth Veterinary Hospital less than one week after moving to Maine!”
After studying animal science at the University of Rhode Island, Sarah worked in various customer service roles. Since 2009, she has worked as a CSR at different veterinary hospitals in Massachusetts until relocating to Portland in December. Sarah joined the FVH team soon after, in January of 2017. She thrives on witnessing the wonderful bond between clients and their pets in her daily work. Outside of work you’ll find her spending time with family and her Black Lab mix named Gus. She also thoroughly enjoys cooking and reading.
“Even after a challenging day, I appreciate the role pets play in my life – they are family to me, and this helps me understand how clients feel when their furry family member needs help.”
Kim began working at FVH in 1985 during her summer break from teaching – and she’s been a friendly face at our front desk on and off ever since! She joined us full-time in 2007 and has made it her passionate mission to get to know all our clients and their pets, helping them any way she can.
In Kim’s spare time she enjoys hanging with her own pets (3 fabulous felines), hiking, biking, swimming, photography and trying to catch up with her grown daughters, who now are in their twenties.
“Some say that one definition of happiness is finding a job that you do not need to take a vacation from…that pretty much sums up how I feel about working at Falmouth Veterinary Hospital over the past 30+ years. It has been a true pleasure from the start.”
Janice has been part of FVH since January of 2015. She worked as an office manager for 20 years prior to entering the veterinary field where she worked as a veterinary assistant and then transferred to the client service department. This is a perfect blend of customer service and time with animals for Janice.
At home she has a Labrador named Missy and two retired horses. When not at FVH, Janice enjoys horseback riding, snowshoeing, walking, traveling and of course spending time with her beloved pets.
“It is very satisfying work to see animals and their owners on a daily basis. The experience brings such comfort and happiness to me. Working with animals and their humans is what I should have been doing all my life!”
